Dancing at Auschwitz: Survivors of the Holocaust

Article Tools

In a 4 minute 20 second video at YouTube, a Jewish family celebrates ilfe and their survival of the Holocaust by dancing to the 70's disco tune "I will survive" warbled by Gloria Gaynor.

The Korman family, led by Holocaust survivor Adolf Korman, is seen dancing at the infamous Auschwitz death camp - even in front of the gate reading "Arbeit Macht Frei" through which hundreds of thousands met their doom at the hands of Germany's National Socialists and their allies.

In one part of the video, the family is seen dancing in front of the Maisel Synagogue, wearing jerseys emblazoned with the word "Survivor", in the Czech Republic. Adolf Hitler had intended to use the synagogue as a Museum of the Extinct Race, following his murder of millions of Jews and other enemies of Nazism.

At the end of the video, survivor Korman is heard to say that he would have been incredulous had someone told him more than sixty years ago that he would be dancing at the site with his grandchildren.
