A career fair directed specifically towards homosexuals - thought to be Europe's first - comes to Germany, March 5-6. Held in Munich, the Milk 2010 job fair offers job prospects for German and European gays. Among the exhibitors at the fair are: Ford, Accenture, Cisco, and IBM, and Google.
Anders Wikberg and partner Stuart B. Cameron are organizing the job fair. They expect over 2,000 job seekers and hope that it will become an annual event. Gay rights organizations in Germany are supporting the event and claim that gay men and lesbians still face prejudice in the workplace.
Networking is expected to be an important part of the fair. Workshops and speeches are expected on the following topics: “Are we different? – Homosexual executives put to the test”, and “Outing at the workplace – curse or blessing?.” Also available will be a list of gay-friendly employers.
The fair is named for Harvey Milk, an openly homosexual politician of San Francisco, who was murdered in 1978.
