Yemen says it will fight terrorist groups on its soil as Islamist militant groups in Somalia have threatened to cross over the Red Sea to support Al-Qaeda fighters there.

According to the dpa agency, Yemen's Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi said today, "Yemen never accepts terrorists and jihadist militants on its soil and it can deal with the existence of any of them."

He added that Somalia's Al-Shabaab militia should focus on bringing stability to its own people, rather than exporting "terror."

The Yemeni government has in recent weeks stepped up attacks against Al-Qaeda in Yemen, after the international Islamist militant network established bases in the country's south over the last decade.
